I enjoy a good debate and I like to see a skeptics view of Positive Psychology.
William Czander wrote the article The Negative Influence of Positive Thinking- The Gurus, Coaches, and Consultants. His article talks how the positive thinking movement has created the culture of over indulgence and abuse in the business world.
He also believes that upper management uses positive thinking strategies on their employees just to keep them happy so they can line their own pockets with profits and bonuses. Is that such a bad thing? Maybe…maybe not. If the employees are happy and upper management is making money, it seems like a win-win situation for both parties. I guess it really depends on how upper management handles the programs they are incorporating in their business.
